Fail to Plan…..  And you Plan to Fail!!

Are you sick of everyone talking about resolutions?

I have had the same resolution for the last 10 years. Every year I tell myself, “This year I am going to get organized!” Since I never really got totally organized, I changed my resolution a few years later to say, “This year I am going to get MORE organized” This was a little more open. As long as I did something this year to move forward I was getting better. So it has stuck, each year I set my resolution to get MORE organized. And each year I actually reach my goal. I have over time actually gotten MORE organized. It is a no-brainer. I made it so simple, I couldn’t really fail.

I also am not a BIG fan of goal setting. Many of us set ourselves up for failure. And I know you are not a failure, you are a WINNER! I have always worked with OMG- One Major Goal. Then all my little goals can fall in place. When you set a ton of goals, you are setting yourself up to fail.

Are you sick of people telling you to make a list of goals and to break down the steps?
THIS NEVER WORKS! I WANT TO SHOW YOU A BETTER WAY!

After asking others if they need help planning 2013, and if they are ready for goal-setting… I have decided next week, on Tuesday Night, I will have a call/webinar. I am going to share with you how to plan for RESULTS. I will show you exactly step by step, how to keep this whole thing simple. STOP the days and weeks going by… it is time to finally PLAN your year.

New Years is a time that many of us use to reflect on last year and think about what is coming up in the next year. Are you excited about 2013?

THIS IS THE DEAL……
You know you want to make more money.
You know you have some BIG goals!
You know that YOU CAN DO IT!

But for some reason, you TRY really hard, you work alot…. you are always busy, but you never seem to reach that BIG GOAL!

This is because there is no PLAN In place. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail!
It is time you have a PLAN and you know EXACTLY what you need to do everyday when you WAKE UP and jump out of bed.

I AM GOING TO SHARE SOME SECRETS THAT NO ONE TALKS ABOUT!

Secret #1- Goals are reached in 24 hour segments! You can’t look at tomorrow, you cant repeat yesterday. You only have TODAY! You must only work within the time today and you must know exactly what you must accomplish. Each day must be set and your goal reached. Each day is a milestone.

There is much more I will share….

How to know what activity to do next
How to get more done in less time
What get results quickly
Time Blocks that actually work

So register now…..

Twitter for business easyToday I want to admit that I have been ignoring Twitter.  Working in social media, there was just no excuse to ignore this BIG traffic site. I sent tweets through my usual posting  methods, but did not spend the time to develop relationships. Instead I would drive my traffic back to my favorite playground, facebook.   I even taught this to many of my clients.

Why did I do this?  I am just like you, time is limited, I do not have much time to spend online, and even less on social media.  Having a Smart Phone,  iPads and other devices, it allows me to be social while doing busy activities throughout the day.   I knew Facebook was the place to be, with almost a Billion people on this site.  Facebook is easy to attract traffic and leads.  So I just focused on that one place.  I would teach how to use Facebook and post through linking to twitter, linkedin and even some Youtube.  I knew this was easy to learn for any small business owners, so I just stuck with teaching this.

I have really stepped up my training over the last 6 months, and I have learned easy tricks to incorporate twitter, linkedin, video and more into my fast paced day.  My old method of focusing on just one place, Facebook, still works for the small business owner who is limited in technical skill and who just does not want to learn more.  But for those of you, who are ready to take a step up with me, I am going to share some  simple Twitter Tips to grow your business.  Give these a try, and you might be surprised to see some results.
Many business owners fall into the trap of using Twitter as a soapbox, rather than a tool for conversation. Below are five Tweet formulas to try that will engage your clients and customers.

  1. Show them you are a “real” person. Your job online is to show that you are not just a business, you are a person who owns a business. Post tweets that show your personality and what is happening in your business.  Snap photos and share the process, don’t just always show the finished product.  Show people the actions along the way.  This lets your followers see you are “real” and they can connect and be part of your community.
  2. Ask Questions? Many business owners use Twitter as a soapbox, and never join in the conversation.  As a “Social Network”, Twitter is another place to build relationships and have conversations.  People love to share their opinions, recommendations, or stories, so asking questions is a great way to spark a conversation.  You can also Ask for testimonials, ideas and ask input from those who are following. In addition to sharing your promotions and content, share tips, articles, and resources you think would interest your online audience. I love tweeting inspirational quotes that get me (and my community) fired up for success
  3. Share Good Content.  Yes, I say this on everything…. Content is KING.  Don’t be afraid to share other resources with your community. It helps position you as an expert in your field, especially if you add your own commentary. Just make sure you always credit or link to the original source.
  4. Learn to hashtag# – Check out those favorite leaders that you follow, see what #hashtags they use.  Search for hashtags, and make a list for your reference.  Create your own for products and tele-seminars.  You will see a spike in your Twitter when you figure out this little tidbit.
  5.  Respond to direct messages and mentions. Be responsive to your tweets, especially if they mention you. For positive or neutral tweets, respond and/or retweet as appropriate. If a client or customer tweets something negative, try to mitigate the situation by inquiring for more information, or by deferring the complaint to your customer service department. But always post a public response so others see you take care of your customers!
  6. Introduce yourself Make sure when someone follows you that you introduce yourself and start a connection.  This first message could start a new relationship and grow you tons of business.

Super Mom Confessions

Confessions of a supermomThe other night a friend was over visiting and I gave her a jar of homemade pickles that I made from the cucumbers that were picked from our backyard garden.  She was shocked.  I got the usual questions…  How the heck do you grow your own cucumbers? How do you have the time to jar pickles?  And the number one question I get several times a week, how do you do it all?   My answer is always the same,”I don’t do it all.”

I am the farthest person from organized, and yet people always ask how I stay organized.  On the outside it just looks like I have it all together. I have created a few habits to help with these things, but many times I just ignore some things (and some people).  I also have put some automated systems in place that help simplify.  I am always looking for ways to simplify and organize.  Here are my tips to help you….

  1. Do not do everything- You need to prioritize each day what must get done today.   I keep a running to do list, that is very long.  Each day I decide what 3 things I must accomplish and do those first.  Great resource is Brian Tracey’s book, “Eat That Frog”.  Just do what is important and what does not really need to be done. If you are just getting started, then focus only on one thing to complete each day.
  2. Stop worrying about the little things.  I cannot worry about doing laundry all day, or cleaning my bathroom for hours.  Does it matter if the laundry is not done today?  Does it matter if I do not pick up the toys off the floor?  To some of you these things might drive you crazy, but I have learned to let go.  I have small kids and there will always be some toys on the floor, just wait until before bedtime and have the kids help.  I have just made the habit of putting in a load of laundry when I wake up and another before I go to bed, this way it is always getting done, and I only have to worry about 1 load at a time.  I have accepted with 5 kids some things will never be done.
  3. Delegate.  This is a hard one for me.  But teach your kids, or your husband, or even others how to get stuff done.  For example, even small children can put away plastic dishes. You can even hire someone to do some of the work for you.  My secret that helps me delegate without guilt is breaking into chunks.  Every project gets broken into parts and I delegate parts of it, this way I still feel in control but get it done with help.
  4. Stop volunteering.  Do you offer your help for everything?  Do you say “Yes” every time someone ask for help?  I am guilty!  I have a hard time saying no.  But one day I realized that I did not have to be in bunco groups, at PTA meetings, or at every event.  I have to pick a few that I feel benefit my children, my business, or my life.   I do not need to waste my time, money and energy on the activity that does not get a result.  Cut these things out of your life and you will find a sense of relief.  Yes, at first you will feel guilty that you are not running the booth at the fair, but trust me in the long run, you will be thankful.   Do this with your kids also, teach them to not volunteer for every thing, or join every sport, or play every instrument.  Pick a few, or one at a time.  Just like anything in life, you become better at a few things, instead of trying to be good at every thing.   People will appreciate your dedication and commitment when you are 100%.  So it is actually a benefit to others when you finally step up and say, “No”.
  5. Automation.   I started using Cozi.com for my kids schedules.  The entire school calendar was loaded into this system, and it linked with my personal google calendar.  I learned this calendar could be on my cell phone, and it holds my grocery list, to do list and projects I am working on.   Many of those little paper list I had floating around my house are now gone.   I am learning to go from CHAOS (Can’t have anyone over syndrome) to calm and half organized.  Try finding Apps for your phone and computer to help you with productivity.  The first one you try might not work, just keep searching until you find the calendar and apps that work for you.
  6. Create Routines.  I learned this from flylady.net.  Routines become habits, and habits become sanity.  These habits will save you so much time.  I am still learning to do this and getting better everyday.  In business we call this “Systems”.  Always ask yourself, “Can I create a system for this”?
  7. Who cares what others think!  Dont stress about being perfect, looking perfect, or having things all together.  You do not need to have your hair cut and styled every month, or nails done every week.  It is ok to relax, let your roots show or forget to put makeup on.   I have stopped wasting so much time (and money) on what others think and started caring about being there for my family and close friends, doing things that make a difference and sometimes not looking great while I do it.  There are times to look good, when you are doing business, or dressed up for a wedding.  Look at your actions, are you doing these things for yourself, or because you care what others think?  Note: I no longer have fake nails, or other treatments, these were costing several hundred a month and about 3-4 hours monthly.  Now I save time and can invest this money into something for my family, I have chosen to put this into our plan to have no debt.  It is a feeling of freedom, this is abundance, not deprivation.
  8. Have fun and try new things. This is an area that I have to force myself, and I am always thankful when I do.  Have you secretly wanted to try water skiing?  Maybe you just want to be one of those women who bakes great cupcakes, or can dance the rumba. Keep a list of things to try and do.  Take a class or schedule time as your reward to try these things.   It is time to be daring and have some fun!

Everyday I work to get closer to these things and find more systems and schedules.  I know I will never truly be a Super Mom but I can blog about being one!

To Your Success,

Liz

I hope you are enjoying your summer.  I have been enjoying some special times with my family and getting out and having some fun.  Here I am….  on a bike ride at the beach. We spent some days at my Mother-in-laws,  just a few blocks from the ocean.  After spending so many months on bed rest,  I now feel a freedom this summer. It is rewarding to hold Abby, who is now 2 months old, and also finally free to just go for a walk or ride a bike.  Being in bed and the hospital was a lesson in being thankful for the blessings in my life.  I have learned to enjoy many of the little things.

So today I want to share something that may seem so little to you, that you may have forgotten this blessing in your business.  It is your email list!!

If there is one thing to be thankful for it should be everyone on your list.  Every class I teach, every person I reach, and all the foundation I share is based on one simple technique….. it is email marketing. Yet, so many business owners dismiss list building, and even those who have started still just ignore the one thing that will increase their paycheck.   So today I am going to share some email marketing secrets for you.  My hope is you are motivated to start sending emails and telling your list that you are thankful for them.

First rule in list building is to remember all roads lead to your list!  If you are still confused by what is your list? This is your email marketing database.  You build this database when you are networking and online through social media, blogs and videos.

But do not forget you need an online place to keep your list.  I recommend aweber and here is my affiliate link.  http://list.workwithliz.com.  I have been a loyal client for 6 years, and I have tested and tried every other service,  nothing compares. You cannot use a free service, or something fancy thinking it will be cheaper or better. I promise you from experience, that aweber is the KING. (Most top marketers use aweber in one way or another)   I can segment my list, build many different list, and have the highest open rates I have ever seen.  This just does not work with any other service.  This is the place to start building.  http://list.workwithliz.com

I just mentioned open rates, this is very important when you start emailing your list.  You will want to test headlines, and try out different formats for your emails.  You can write a newsletter, include pictures or just a simple email. Whatever you choose, make sure you are tracking and watching what gets the most results. Every list is different, but every list needs consistent emails.

Your list is like a best friend, you must keep building the relationship.  Keep in touch at least weekly, be supportive, encouraging, share your secrets and help your list with what they want to learn.   Here are a few secrets I have learned, and I have a very high open rate…..

  • Write your emails like you are writing to your best friend, to one person, not to a crowd
  • Have a subject line that is catchy
  • Make is personal, people like to hear what is happening and what is working
  • Stay away from canned newsletters, there is a trend to buy content.  If you buy, then personalize
  • Share, share and share.  Your secrets, your formulas, what is working and what you are struggling with
  • Be consistent, actually more is better.  Weekly, twice a week, or more!  Less than once a week and your list will drop
  • Make videos and share pictures
  • Give credit to others

If there is one thing I could tell you to do to make a difference in your business, go out and start building your list, then love your list.

Thank you for being part of my list, and part of my life.  I am thankful for you!  You have been there with me as I grow, change and make mistakes.   You have been there to help me enjoy the success.

I wish success for you and want to help you each step of the way.  Comment below or email me with any questions.

I just  spent 9 months pregnant and the last month at home with a newborn.  During this time I realized how many times I wish I could duplicate or clone myself.  Since that is not possible, I have been exploring ways I can do more with less time.  So you are going to notice a pattern over the next months of ways I am simplifying, and creating more time for my family.

Each time I get a new domain name, I now personally have over 25 domains, the first thing I do is set up an email address for that domain.   I like to forward that email to my personal email account at gmail.  I do this because someone may find that domain, website or email address floating around on the internet.  This does happen, and I have been contacted before and have made money from this.  Also as I set up a website, I want those people who go to the website to contact me through a professional email address from that site.  I can distinguish where they found me and answer the question based on the site they visited.

But the question keeps coming up from those of you who visit my site, how do I set up my email address on my domain to forward to my gmail, and then how to respond to that email from the domain email address.  I want to look professional on my reply also, not just from my personal email.

Here is a quick video how it is done..I know you may have this question also, or possibly never knew there was an easy way to have all your email addresses in one location.  Lets keep this simple!

You keep hearing about having a self-hosted wordpress website. You know this could be the solution to all the website headache you are dealing with, but you just are not sure what or how to do it.

You know this will release you from web-designer bondage, and give you the control you want. You can finally get more leads and clients can find you in the search engines. You just are not sure if you can get it to work for you.

To see the results you want, you have to put some actions into learning wordpress. You need to start actually doing your site. Here are a few tips, to help you get going. Do not make these mistakes when you get started….

1. Your sidebar (widgets) isn’t your hall closet

You know that hall closet you’re afraid to open because all the stuff shoved in it might come tumbling out and hit you on your head?

That’s what a lot of WordPress sidebars look like.

You have stuffed your sidebar (widgets) with your ads, your social media icons, links to your most recent tweets, photos of your Facebook fans, and on and on. On that sidebar might be a link you’d really like your site visitor to click on, but if they can’t find it, you might as well not have it there.

The solution? only put the necessity on your sidebar. If a widget doesn’t add people to your list, put money in your bank account, or get someone to take an action you’d like them to take, remove it.

2. Make it easy to find what’s on your site.

If you own a library of books, does it make sense to house the books in separate buildings by the month they were acquired?

Of course not. You’d end up walking from building to building, searching for the book you wanted.

Set up your categories for your market and what they are searching for. You may also want to have a search widget on your site, so visitors can use a keyword to find what they are searching for.

3. Clean up your permalinks

You work hard to create content for your site, so you want Google, Bing, and Yahoo to find it. Make it easy for them by using short “road signs” that point to your information.

How do you do that?

The first step is to go to your >settings, then >permalinks. Click on the custom structure and put in %postname%. This will instantly start showing your title in the link, instead of just a date. This will allow the search engines to find your content, you can even start to learn some SEO tricks.

Another quick improvement is to use the built-in WordPress permalink field at the top of the editing page to revise your links before you publish them.Eliminate unnecessary words, and make use of keywords in your description.

Don’t stuff it with keywords — make sure the end result is pleasant to read.

4. Make use of titles and descriptions

When you share your posts and pages on Facebook, Google+ and LinkedIn, these services pick up a page title and description to go with the link you share. This is also what turns up in a search engine.

Most people use to decide whether or not to click on your link based on the title.

That makes the title and description some of the most important text on your page!

In my wordpress course we show you how to use Scribe to edit the page title and description.

5. Add images

Images add beauty and interest to your pages. They can have a search engine optimization job to do, too.

Every time you upload an image to your website, you have the opportunity to add a keyword in your image title and alternate text fields.

The title tag for your image generates the helpful little text that appears when someone hovers over that image.

And if for some reason the image is unavailable — or your reader is using an assistive device to view your web page — the alternate text tag is the text they’ll see in place of your image.

Again — they need to make sense. If it’s a story about tires and you’ve used an image of a muddy tire, don’t just call it “Tire.” Call it “Best Tire Brand for Muddy Roads,” or some other text that describes what people will find in your content. And make sure the alternate tag accurately describes the image you’re showing. This isn’t a place to stuff random keywords, it’s just another way to make it crystal clear what your site is about.

6. Focus attention with free offer and aweber subscription

The goal is to get site visitors to take action. Tell them what you are going to give them in order to join your database (List). Remove distractions and focus their attention with a well designed widget at the top. You can simply do this with your aweber form creation.

If you are using thesis theme you can also make a landing page. This is explained in the wordpress workshop.

7. Don’t forget the footer

Down at the bottom of your WordPress site is the footer area.

It’s where you can include a copyright message, a link to an important page, or information about who owns your website.

Many themes allow you to expand this area into content section where you can include a short bio, an opt-in to your email list, links to popular posts or pages, and more.

Have a wordpress question? Don’t be shy: let us know in the comments below.

I was stuck in bed for weeks, my pregnancy had me off my feet while I made it through my first trimester. Would you be able to run your business without you??   I learned so much from this experience.  I learned about delegation, and how I needed to recreate the systems that were in place.  WOW!!  Most important lesson,  I will show you how you can work even less, and make even more!!   The NEW YEAR is going to be cooking up some good things!!

While stuck in bed, I started watching TV.  You may already know how much I hate the TV ( I even made my family go an entire month with no cable just to show them they could live without it.  They did live, but missed the news, history, science and weather, so I let them turn it back on)  As I flipped through the TV channels, I realized there is not many good shows.  The TV is full of reality shows  and talk shows where we get to see people behave immature, fight and insult others.  Then I had the option of the makeover shows, where I could watch the before and the transformation to the after.
I realized how many people are looking for a “makeover”.  Instantly,  I knew that we all want to transform parts of of our life and our business.  This is why these shows are so successful. We are looking for the quick and easy solution to the problems we are facing.  The Makeover Madness is a way for us to see this happen in under an hour.  We can take ideas from this and apply to our lives.
Some of these makeover shows really got my attention.  It was the business shows.   I actually got hooked by restaurant impossible, then one day was a marathon of Kitchen Nightmares with Chef Gordon Ramsey. I worked in the food business for many years and love to see business owners who find success after many years of struggle.  I can relate and my heart was pulled, I actually was crying much of the time while watching.
My family was so angry with me, they have never seen me watch TV like this before.  They wanted my attention, but I stayed glued to see the next transformation.  After just a few episodes, I could see a common thread in every one of these restaurants.  Lousy food, dirty kitchen, bad staff, poor customer service, and no management.  Then this all led to no customers, declining cash flow, more debt, and piles of bills.  These businesses were going under!!   I was even yelling at the owners right along with Chef Ramsey.  How could they not see what was happening?
At the end of the marathon, it was like a brick hit me in the head.  This is the same thing happening in most of the people I meet everyday.  They cannot figure out why the customers are not calling and banging down the doors for what they have.  They cannot see the errors they are making, they just know they are not making enough money.   Does this sound like you?? or someone you know?? This is one reason I started coaching others, I can usually see many of the leaks in a business with just about 30 minutes in conversation.    Some of the lessons I learned from Chef Ramsey, I am sure can help you TODAY!!
Do you have lousy food?  He showed that these restaurants are serving frozen food, under or over cooked and no fresh flavors.  Many have not updated the menu in years.  Does this sound like you, when was the last time you updated your offer?  Are you using the words your customers are asking for?  Is your product fresh, or does it look like everyone else in your industry?  I saw business owners who thought they were unique and special, but when they looked at the situation, it was the same as the rest of the neighborhood.  Are you making the fatal error.  How do you stand out in the crowd?  You cannot sell the same product as everyone else, even if you are a consultant for a company, you must immediately create your own packages.
No customers?  Chef Ramsey would go out into the community, then he invited the Mayor, the fire department, and food critics to opening night.   He wanted to find the key influential people who could tell others about the transformation. He knew that customers came from others word-of-mouth and excitement, not from coupons, signs, postcards or attending networking events.  In fact one show he burned the giant signs and discount promotions. The owners would cry many times when he tried to change the patterns.  Are you holding onto things that are not working?  Insisting that you are right, even when you are not getting the results?
Dirty Kitchen?   I turned away when he showed rotten food, bugs, mice and other disgusting things.  He started each business with a good cleaning.  He did this not only to actually clean the place, but as a way for the staff and management to show it is starting over with everything now clean and fresh.  Do you need to clean up your business?  Step 1, he put a daily system in place.  In fact, he showed in his personal restaurant, the fridge and kitchen got cleaned 2 times a day.  The cleaning system was so detailed, that it created habits, and a good feeling for everyone who entered the building.   What a wake up call to every business owner!!   Do you keep track daily of your customers, finances,  clean out emails, and make everything fresh and new?  What is your daily system to update and organize?   He stressed the organization is the back bone of every business.   There is no cash flow, and no growth without the basic business system of finances, cleaning and more!    I started my daily routine at that moment.
Bad staff?  Poor customer service?  Are you delegating or trying to do it all yourself?  He showed how hiring help, and the right help could make all the difference.   Your customer service is affected by you trying to do it all or  trying to save money by letting others do it cheaply.     Do you have your wordpress site up yet?  do you post daily on social media?  do you make daily calls?   It is time to pay to get some of these things done.  You may be risking your business by trying to be the Super Owner!!   You cannot do everything right.  Time to look at your talents and your weakness.  Do what you do best, and delegate the rest.   The one skill he showed that every owner needed was business management, then needed to be investigators of every penny, and watch over all the systems.  To keep improving systems, then they could work less, and make much, much more.  You can do the same!
I can go on with what I learned from the Kitchen Nightmares.   The timing was just right!!  I was stuck in bed and forced to watch TV all day… ha, ha!!   I was letting my systems fail in my business because I became to dependent on me running everything.   Without me doing the daily work  things would fall apart.     I already made this decision for the new year before watching, but Gordon Ramsey helped show me what could happen if I do not get the systems in place.
Are you ready for a transformation?   Put your comments below and  tell me what transformation are going to work on in 2012?   Do you have a goal and a plan to get there?  I want to help and support you!

If you have not heard of David Neagle I recommend you check out his site

Click Here To See David’s Website

————————————–

Just a few weeks ago, I had only heard of David Neagle, but was not really a big fan.  I was just a follower, to me this meant I was on his email list and watched some of his videos and listened to a few trainings.  I enjoyed what he taught.  What had got me interested to get to one of his events was a live stream I had watched. He coached a business owner about how we cannot equate time and money.  Many of us chose how much we charge based on how much time it takes us to do the work, where as our rates should actually be determined by the value the person will get from the information.   Our thinking is always that time equals money, and the way to make more money is to work more time, or charge more per hour.  Neither of these is true, and in fact if we set up our business we will get both more time and more money.  This simple idea was very interesting to me and I watched David coach people to sell programs that they currently were selling for $500-$1000 and charge ten times more.   Once I saw people do this and get results, I was intrigued to learn more about this guy named David Neagle.   I had never had such a mindset shift in a short amount of time.

So when I saw tickets to his event pop-up in my email box, I knew I wanted to check it out.  The event was many months away, and David being the great marketer that he is, knew just how to get me to attend.  He offered so many bonuses for getting the tickets, including a class that cost almost triple as if the tickets were purchased many months before.  I convinced my friend Ann, from irresistiblemarketing.net to come with me.

The event was incredible and different than most of the business events I usually attend.  This one got deep, and by deep I mean that every issue you are having or have ever had in your life was brought to the surface.  This was a business event that had only a small portion to do with our business.   I learned that many of things we are doing in our business are because of thoughts and events that happened many years ago, even back to our childhood.  We have a pre-concieved notion of how something is supposed to be.  We bring that thought into our business and in turn we struggle in different areas.  He started off by telling us that if there is no profit in business, we are running a charity.  Most of us are running a charity.  A business is about profit, and the goal is to make profit.

To start off David shared his journey.  This opened my eyes to some of the differences of those people who make themselves a success.  David was only making about $20k a year.  He had never known anyone to make more than this.  He knew he wanted more, even after an accident where he almost died, he waited for something to happen.  He thought that was the sign that something was going to change, and when nothing changed, he didn’t understand.  He finally realized if things were going to change, he had to be the one to change.   As he worked 6 1/2 days a week, was miserable, and still could not pay his bills, he thought he was stuck in a box that he could not get out of.  He couldn’t afford to get ahead, he could not even get by.   He explained he was ANGRY!  This anger was what was affecting his life.   He finally accepted he needed to change his attitude, and he said these 3 things on the job changed everything for him and can for anyone, whether it is a job or your own business.   1- Be honest with what needs to be changed.  What needs to be changed is you.  Most people work to go home, instead work and act as if you love your work.  You must show that you love what you do.   2- Work with the best of your ability.  Each and every moment pull out the absolute best you can be.  3- Treat everyone, and this means everyone with total respect.  Show this to your boss, employees and every customer/client or anyone you meet.  Show them respect.    Once he did these 3 things, within a few months he had doubled his income.  He was making 40K a year, he said he thought that was the top of the world.  He had never really known anyone who made that much money.

David went on to teach what he calls the basic principle of the universe which is more life.   Everything is always working for more life, and we need to understand this as our foundation.  We also spent time focused on changing the rules.   We are always playing by the same set of rules, which is why we are getting the same results.  How can we look outside the box and play by a new set of rules.   Everything you need to reach your goal is already here.  You do not need to go searching for anything else.  But the catch is you will only get it when you are ready.  The minute you make an excuse it all stops.   If you are willing to make a transformation or a change, you can bring in anything you desire.   We met people who went from making $100 a day, to now making $100,000 a month, and all within a short time frame, some withing 6 months.  Once your brain can realize that you need a new set of rules to play the game.   All games have a set of rules, do you know the rules and are you playing by them?  If you do not have the result you want, you are playing by the wrong rules.

If you have the desire, the want and need are there.  There was many people who were trying to manifest, they were saying positive affirmations, had dream boards and doing all sorts of different things.  He showed us that our brain is like a rubber band, even when we stretch it that as soon as we let go, it will go right back.  He explained the only way to get the results was to break the rubber band.  This could only happen with thoughts, feelings and action, this would produce results.  The results do not need to be the results we desire, it just has to be results, this is how we can start to break that rubber band, or some people might refer to it as our sub-conscious mind.  We were all asked if we were willing to do what is necessary?  So ask yourself if you are willing to do what is necessary to change yourself, which will change your life and your business.

We spent alot of time talking about money.  I was suprised to find out how many other people worry about money.  It was not just me!!  A big AHA for me was when I realized that when I make more money, that worry does not go away.  I believed when you make a ton of money you no longer have to worry about money.  This is not true.  He actually turned this thought around in my head, in order to make money I have to worry about money.  Just a different type of worry.  I need to know how much money I need, to the penny.  If I do not know how much money I need each month to pay the bills, then I am not worrying enough about money and I will not make enough.  We need to worry enough about money that we know how much we need and how much to make.   Money is just paper and we can make it any time we need it, but to make the money we must know how much we need.

He also talked about the negative side of worry about money that we need to get rid of.  Most of us hold money as our God.  We put money before all things in our life.  I did not believe this, I never thought I was putting money before anything.  But I learned and so did most of the room, that we are making money a God because we spend so much time and energy worrying about it.  With every decision we make, we are making the decision based on money.  Have you chosen your home, your car, your children’s school, the food you eat, the clothes you wear, all based on money?  When you are shopping are you looking at price tags and you are choosing all areas based on money.  If money itself had value the value would not flucuate.  So money itself has no value, it is the value you put on it.  Who told you that you have to work for money? Working is the worst way to make money.  It is actually self worth and self respect that is keeping you broker.  If you want to know what is important to you check out both your calendar and your check book.  Those 2 things show you what you are really doing with your life.  Your time and how it is spent will determine if you will ever be successful.  How you spend your money will show how much you are worrying about money, and if you are spending and counting the pennies as you should.  You should know where every minute and every penny goes.  Once you get this under control and meet you monthly needs only then can you start to make more.

Napoleon Hill says that opportunity comes disguised as missed opportunity or defeat.  We were testing on this several times at the event.  How many times are you passing up making money or a good opportunity because you are telling yourself it is not an opportunity or possibly it is a defeat, something you do not want.   You are responsible for your own success or faily.

It is Harvest Time!!

Are you feeling it?  Is your bank account over-flowing?  People are begging to work with you?  You can’t keep enough product on the shelf?

Did you know the fall season accounts for about 70% of business and recruiting in most sales professions?   Are you having these results?   This is the time of year sales come easier, people are in buying mode, and also looking  for  sources to create more income.

If you have been working your business for any length  of time, you have planted seeds through the spring and summer.  If those seeds were planted in good soil, watered well, got sunshine, and you kept away the weeds.  You will experience an amazing harvest right now.

How does this apply to your business?

1. Good Seeds-  Make sure you are planting good seeds.  If your ideal client is stay at home moms,  going to a working moms seminar is not the ideal place to find seeds.   This seems like common sense, but I meet many people at business networking events, who do not have a B2B (business to business) model.  They are networking with the hopes that someone will refer to them.  On occasion this does work, but this is an example of gathering seeds that may never grow.   Make sure you are gathering good seeds that work with your business model.  If you sell purses,  do not hang out at a Men’s health club!  Go to events with professional women.  Find others who have a similar market, and join together to share your seeds.

2. Planting your seeds-  Do you come home from a networking event and have a stack of business cards?  Do you stick those in a box, on a table, or just leave them in your purse?  What if the farmer left all the seeds in the drawer?  What would his excuse be for why he has no corn in the field?   Can you see why your seeds are not growing?  You never planted them.   I also see many business owners just scattering seeds.  They throw sales pitch on facebook, they share a 30 second commercial offering a sale, they are pushing videos, or company audios at people.  The worst is sending people to a replicated company website!!  As a business owner they think they are planting seeds, but really they are just standing with a bag of seeds and sprinkling the seeds every where they walk.  Can you see that sprinkling seeds all over the ground will never grow your seeds?  You must plant those seeds into good soil!

3.  Good Soil-  What is good soil?  The soil compliments the seeds right?  You want to make sure you are hanging out in the right conditions.  You need to be where your ideal client and target market are doing business.   If you plant the good seeds into good soil, you will see them sprout.   What types of places are your ideal clients?  Is this a place that your ideal prospects go to buy?   If I am looking for a new pair of black shoes, I go to the mall.  So if I was selling shoes, I need to be where the buyers are at.  I would not hang out on facebook all day, telling everyone about black shoes.     Remember also, seeds being planted in soil are done at the right time of year.  Pumpkins are planted in June or July for a fall harvest.  If you are putting together a Christmas promotion, you should be planning in September.  By November, your New Years Sale should be ready.   Don’t you hate it when you walk into the store and Christmas items are out in October?   I think the stores must know alittle about marketing, they are not going to wait until December to put out Christmas items, by then it would be to late.   Think like a business, act like a business, and you will get paid like a business.

4. Water your seeds!  Once your seeds are planted you cannot just hope that they will grow.  You must continue to water them.  This is one of the biggest secrets to getting your seeds to sprout and grow.  The secret is consistency.  What would happen if you watered today, and ignored your seeds for a month, then went back and watered everyday for a week, then skipped a few weeks and so on…   you would have no growth, or very little.  Can you see now why your seeds might not be growing?  There is no consistency.  The fastest and easiest way to get consistency is through an email auto-responder (http://list.workwithliz.com)  People must connect with you a minimum 7-10 times to be able to develop trust and like.   If you are marketing every week or more, you will see the fastest sprouting in your business.  Just like watering, do this a few times a week to see results.

5. Sunshine-  Your seeds need good weather.  We know plants are strong and even as weather changes many plants make it through, but they do still need somewhat ideal conditions.  One of those conditions is sunshine!  What are you shining on your business?  Are you staying positive? Planning your work, working your plan?  Are you smiling every where you go?  Are you taking daily action? Like the sun you must come up every morning and shine all day!  You will see your seeds harvest!

6. Weeds-  We all have weeds that are going to show up. Those nay-sayers, negative people, orders that do not go through, parties that cancel, and just things in life going wrong.  Do you leave the weeds in the ground to smother your business, or do you pick them as soon as they appear.   The easiest way to pick weeds from your life is to listen to postive things.  When you drive  listen to motivational and business CD’s, surround yourself with positive people, and give more.  You will fill your garden with only sprouting suceess, and pick away all the weeds.

I am wishing you an amazing harvest in your business. In the call below,  I share ways you can grow more, learn about the difference to what is called tomato marketing and avocado marketing, and grow a successful business.   To listen to a recording  of the recent training on this subject, Click Below or download and listen to the  MP3.    Share below with the community what you are doing for your harvest, and any AHA! moments or ideas.   I want to hear from you!
